ONE
This poem was quite the work of art, if ya ask me. Sharon seemed to be very in tune with herself and the reality of her life. This beautiful piece was such an informative, yet inspirational story of what she has experienced. Someone very dear to my heart is in a situation similar to this, so it resonates deep for me. Love is love, whether it is man and woman, two men, two women or two transgenders. I love how she was capable of giving the reader her heritage and family life in such an eloquent way.
The part of the poem that was most heart breaking was when she stated "the gays make jokes about "breeders' and fall silent if i mention my (male) lover". Its just disappointing that after such a long fight for the LGBT community, that they would do exactly what they are fighting against...bullying and persecuting. I guess in every walk of life there are going to be good people and not so good, but after fighting such a good and honorable fight, its a bummer to see them act in a way that completely contradicts their cause. Love is Love, no matter who it is.
